Who am I?

Welcome to my blog!!  My name is Laura Way and although I was born and raised in southwestern Pennsylvania, I have lived in the south so long my voice has begun to change!   My Dad (Ron) and Mom (Jill) have been married for over 30 years!!  You wouldn't tell because they are still rocking the young look!  I attribute it to their healthy lifestyles!  They have provided me an awesome upbringing filled with love, laughter, and sisters! The sisters!!  OK, we have Lindsay, Abbey, and Shelby.  I also include Maria and Breanne as my sisters and one brother, Morgan, although there is no blood connection!   Lindsay is best known now for being Quincy's mom!  You will hear a ton about Quincy, my amazing blue eyed nephew who loves his Nanny.  That would be me, Nanny!  Lindsay works at St. Joseph's School here in Shreveport.  We only live a handful of blocks from each other.  Next is Abbey!   Ohh, Abbey Jo Way!  There is enough in the name but I will give her a little credit for being beautiful, a 1,000pt scorer in basketball and Pennsylvania State Champion pole vaulter to her resume.  A recent grad of East Carolina University she prides herself in being a Pirate, arrgh!  On to Shelby Way, the baby!  I think Shelby may be everyones favorite.  I'm not sure if it is her intriguing nature, her personality similar to Chelsea Lately (the PG version), or her simplicity.  She is finishing her college years rocking the basketball court at Ohio Valley University.  She is an artist, all start athlete, and vegetarian! Maria, Breanne, and Morgan have all been adopted in the family.  Maria and Shelby have been best friends since as long as I have recollection of life.  She is beautiful, a joy to be around, and in school to be a nurse.  Breanne is my bestie that I met while working at Walnut Hill.  Breanne, Lindsay, Quincy and I lived together for almost two years and that is when she joined the family!  She has been there through some tough times with my family and in the end we are thankful for her contribution to make things easier.  She moved back to Alabama but will always be my bestie.  Lastly, Morgan!  Morgan is the family MAN!  He joins my Dad as the other man in the house!  We ALL love Mo-Mo!  Morgan is Abbey's boyfriend but we all claim him at one time or another.  Morgan loves the outdoors and avid snow boarder!

Ok, so now about ME!   I go by Laura, Nanny, Coach Way to some but most kids like to call me Ms. Coach Way.  I played basketball all my life and at Centenary College where I was on the basketball team.  After a career ending injury I was talked into running Cross Country by the coach despite my hatred for running.  Shelley, who is now one of my BFFs and her hubby Brad basically pulled me out of a depression through running.  I thought my life was over when basketball was taken from me.  Thanks to them my entire life has been changed through running.

The past five years I have been teaching P.E. at Walnut Hill elementary where I am the sponsor of our Running Club.   We are awesome!!  I am so proud of my kids!  Last year we won the award for most participants of all the schools involved in the program.  Exciting!!  Most would call me a free spirit.  I want peace for all.  I was into PEACE before it was "cool" to flash a peace sign :)  In fact, a teacher at my school asked me one day if I started the trend.  She lives in a bubble I guess!  If I could meet anyone it would be Mother Teresa.  I will quote her often throughout this blog.

There are many more people that should be given a shout out right now but you will be introduced to them later.

At the end of the day I just want to make a difference.  Striving to change the world one person at a time.  Welcome to my blog!
